Double Beauty

Gretchen's lovely batik quilt is  quite an artistic creation with the pieces from the front moving to the back.  Baroque Hearts with its regular repeats seemed to fir both sides and the lilac-colored thread blended everything together.

Second Double

Gretchen did it again.  Her fronts and backs are both interesting.  These batiks have a different look with the Simply Clematis in peach thread.  The flowers five it a lighter look to complement the lighter tones in the fabric and soften the square lines.

Windy Meandering

Joyce did a beautiful job with her piecing on this neutral shade quilt.  We used Mother Goose thread to blend and Windy Meandering to give it some contours but not take away from the piecing.  She was binding it quickly to take as a wedding gift for a relative.

Family History

Sharon printed the old family pictures on pre-treated fabric for this lovely quilt.  She framed each picture and captioned every one.  This will hang proudly in her Washington home and her husband will enjoy sharing the stories about his side of the family.  We used SID in the borders and then used leaves (it is part of a family tree!) in the sashing.

Charity

Maxine completed a group of charity quilts for the Justin Project.

The first is a printed panel that she changed around a bit..

The second is a clever way to do a trapunto Care Bear.

The  rest are made from her stash of children's fabric and bright contrasting fabric.  Each is quilted according to the theme in the fabric~~bugs, bunnies QSIG_Maxine_bunny_back2.jpg (47318 bytes), frogs QSIG_Maxine_frog_closeup.jpg (49887 bytes), and outer space.

Connie contributed three more Justin Quilts this month.

Her first is made on the same pattern Maxine used with the large stripes.  It has children on it, so the quilting pattern is "Royal People."

Her second looks fresh and spring-like.  Simply Clematis in a variegated pastel thread gives it that look.

Her third quilt has a diagonal line that is continued with the Celtic Scrolls pattern that goes at an angle as well.

Jo Lee made one quilt from a printed panel.  Someone donated the fabric who had had it for a while.  The stamp in the selvage said 1983.

Dee_cloud_closeup.jpg (48188 bytes)   Dee_cloud_back.jpg (38740 bytes)

Baby Shower

Dee pieced this precious log cabin baby quilt for a relative's baby shower.  We used "Baby Clouds" and white thread.  The backing fabric is lots of little animals, so this quilt will provide hours of little stories.

KayI_bell.jpg (49883 bytes)

KayI_bell_closeup.jpg (49168 bytes)   KayI_bell_back.jpg (42945 bytes)

Chinese Coins

Kay pieced this quilt out of bright colors for one purpose and she liked it for her nephew after she saw it quilted so he gets it.  Lucky boy!

We used variegated turquoise King Tut thread and "Bell Blossom."

Connie_dragonfly.jpg (48624 bytes)

Connie_dragonfly_closeup.jpg (48338 bytes)   Connie_dragonfly_back.jpg (43500 bytes)

Ribbit!!

Connie pieced and appliquéd this clever quilt.  We used dragonflies so the poor frogs wouldn't starve and then in the center put the frogs on lily pads and water.

Connie_bell.jpg (47177 bytes)

Connie_bell_closeup.jpg (48101 bytes)   Connie_bell_back.jpg (47268 bytes)

Connie's Pinwheels

This quilt seems to have lots of motion.  We used Bell Flower because the flowers are pointed and seem to rotate, too.  The pale yellow thread seems to carry the yellow throughout without being too heavy.

Mary_heart.jpg (48514 bytes)

Mary_heart_closeup.jpg (48429 bytes)  Mary_heart_back.jpg (42958 bytes)

Hearts

Mary pieced this quilt for a special wall in a patient area of a hospice.  She worried that the heart wouldn't show, so we used two layers of batting and stitched down the background and let the heart and border puff.

BRooke_Rose.jpg (48488 bytes)

Brooke_Rose_closeup.jpg (43177 bytes)   Brooke_Rose_back.jpg (41571 bytes)

Brooke's Beauty

Brooke says she just loves to piece and we can see why.  this was a mystery quilt from a local quilt shop.  We used Old Rose thread to blend with the front and to show well on the back.  Windy Meandering is one of Brooke's favorite patterns.

Brooke_squares.jpg (49501 bytes)

Brooke_squares_closeup.jpg (45081 bytes)   Brooke_squares_back.jpg (46715 bytes)

Diamond are a Girl's Best Friend

This quilt doesn't have much quilting.  It is a very simple beauty with echoing and continuous curve according to the piecing.

Jenny_cloud.jpg (49291 bytes)

Jenny_cloud_closeup.jpg (45266 bytes)   Jenny_cloud_back.jpg (47388 bytes)

Log Cabin

Jenny wanted to emphasize the angle of the lights and darks in this quilt.  Oriental Clouds moves across at the same angle and the green thread carries the colors as well.

Jenny_Sydney.jpg (48164 bytes)

Jenny_Sydney_closeup.jpg (48092 bytes)   Jenny_Sydney_back.jpg (42855 bytes)

Chinese Coins

Jenny pieced this very large Chinese Coin quilt so that the brown stripes would match the spindles on the head- and footboards on her bed.  The cool blues and rose shades in the fabric make a nice contrast.  We used brown thread and Sydney because it gives it a '50s look that Jenny likes.

Judy_simply.jpg (49547 bytes)

Judy_simply_closeup.jpg (44041 bytes)   Judy_simply_back.jpg (48121 bytes)

Garden Colors

Judy used these luscious garden colors and flower and leaf fabrics in her quilt.  they called for Simply Clematis and green thread.

Diane_Tberry.jpg (49956 bytes)

Diane_TBerry_closeup.jpg (46888 bytes)   Diane_TBerry_back.jpg (33948 bytes)

Thimbleberry

Diane pieced this quilt with the house in the center and 4 similar blocks around it. The lovely colors give it a fall feeling.  We used continuous curve and other custom quilting.  The border is looping leaves.

Connie_cowboy.jpg (49908 bytes)    Connie_cowboy_back.jpg (45277 bytes) Yippee!!!

Connie made this cute cowboy quilt to donate to a charity.  We used a cute western pattern that includes barbed wire, steers, and cactus.

Sally_Iris.jpg (47948 bytes)

Sally_Iris_closeup.jpg (46900 bytes)   Sally_Iris_back.jpg (46754 bytes)

Iris

Sally collected fabric and appliquéd this quilt over quite a period of time.  It has polyester batting to give it loft and SID to help the flowers and sashing pop.  It is very large.

Judy_cups.jpg (48336 bytes)     Judy_cups_back.jpg (49081 bytes)

Judy_pots.jpg (48600 bytes)   Judy_pots_back.jpg (48461 bytes)

Wall Hangings

Judy made these two cute wall hangings as gifts.  We quilted them just like the pictures in the patterns.

In looking very carefully, we discovered that the quilt in one of the pictures had one sashing unquilted!  We did them all.

Does your quilt belong here??
