Windy
Meandering
Joyce
did a beautiful job with her piecing on this neutral shade
quilt. We used Mother Goose thread to blend and Windy Meandering
to give it some contours but not take away from the piecing. She
was binding it quickly to take as a wedding gift for a relative.

Family
History
Sharon
printed the old family pictures on pre-treated fabric for this lovely
quilt. She framed each picture and captioned every one.
This will hang proudly in her Washington home and her husband will
enjoy sharing the stories about his side of the family. We used
SID in the borders and then used leaves (it is part of a family tree!)
in the sashing.

Charity
Maxine
completed a group of charity quilts for the Justin Project.
The
first is a printed panel that she changed around a bit..
The
second is a clever way to do a trapunto Care Bear.
The
rest are made from her stash of children's fabric and bright
contrasting fabric. Each is quilted according to the theme in
the fabric~~bugs, bunnies ,
frogs ,
and outer space.
Connie
contributed three more Justin Quilts this month.
Her
first is made on the same pattern Maxine used with the large
stripes. It has children on it, so the quilting pattern is
"Royal People."
Her
second looks fresh and spring-like. Simply Clematis in a
variegated pastel thread gives it that look.
Her
third quilt has a diagonal line that is continued with the Celtic
Scrolls pattern that goes at an angle as well.
Jo Lee
made one quilt from a printed panel. Someone donated the fabric
who had had it for a while. The stamp in the selvage said 1983.

Baby
Shower
Dee
pieced this precious log cabin baby quilt for a relative's baby
shower. We used "Baby Clouds" and white thread.
The backing fabric is lots of little animals, so this quilt will
provide hours of little stories.

Chinese
Coins
Kay
pieced this quilt out of bright colors for one purpose and she liked
it for her nephew after she saw it quilted so he gets it. Lucky
boy!
We
used variegated turquoise King Tut thread and "Bell
Blossom."

|
Ribbit!!
Connie
pieced and appliquéd this clever quilt. We used dragonflies so
the poor frogs wouldn't starve and then in the center put the frogs on
lily pads and water.
|
|
Connie's
Pinwheels
This
quilt seems to have lots of motion. We used Bell Flower because
the flowers are pointed and seem to rotate, too. The pale yellow
thread seems to carry the yellow throughout without being too heavy.

|
Hearts
Mary
pieced this quilt for a special wall in a patient area of a
hospice. She worried that the heart wouldn't show, so we used
two layers of batting and stitched down the background and let the
heart and border puff.

Brooke's
Beauty
Brooke
says she just loves to piece and we can see why. this was a
mystery quilt from a local quilt shop. We used Old Rose thread
to blend with the front and to show well on the back. Windy
Meandering is one of Brooke's favorite patterns.

|
Diamond
are a Girl's Best Friend
This
quilt doesn't have much quilting. It is a very simple beauty
with echoing and continuous curve according to the piecing.

Log
Cabin
Jenny
wanted to emphasize the angle of the lights and darks in this
quilt. Oriental Clouds moves across at the same angle and the
green thread carries the colors as well.
|
|
Chinese
Coins
Jenny
pieced this very large Chinese Coin quilt so that the brown stripes
would match the spindles on the head- and footboards on her bed.
The cool blues and rose shades in the fabric make a nice
contrast. We used brown thread and Sydney because it gives it a
'50s look that Jenny likes.

Garden
Colors
Judy
used these luscious garden colors and flower and leaf fabrics in her
quilt. they called for Simply Clematis and green thread.
|

|
Thimbleberry
Diane
pieced this quilt with the house in the center and 4 similar blocks
around it. The lovely colors give it a fall feeling. We used
continuous curve and other custom quilting. The border is
looping leaves.

|
Yippee!!!
Connie
made this cute cowboy quilt to donate to a charity. We used a
cute western pattern that includes barbed wire, steers, and cactus.
|

|
Iris
Sally
collected fabric and appliquéd this quilt over quite a period of
time. It has polyester batting to give it loft and SID to help
the flowers and sashing pop. It is very large.
|
|
Wall Hangings
Judy
made these two cute wall hangings as gifts. We quilted them just
like the pictures in the patterns.
In
looking very carefully, we discovered that the quilt in one of the
pictures had one sashing unquilted! We did them all.
