Blue
Log Cabin
Nelda
did a great job with her log cabins on this Barn Raising quilt.
We used Windy Meandering to give it contours and motion but show the
piecing and over-all pattern. the Yale Blue thread is a perfect
color for both back and front.

Traditional
Quilt
Pat in
North Carolina has outdone herself with this Double Nine Patch!
It is a copy of an older quilt that she is reproducing. It is
very large and she left great 15" spaces for the many square
feather wreaths. There were 4 times as many little circular
wreaths!

Monsters!
Nelda
took a class at a local quilt shop to learn about writing with a satin
stitch. the teacher had this monster quilt and Nelda made her
quilt like it. These characters are wonderful and
scary! their embellishments are cute~~fuzzy hair, buttons,
and flags. We did lots of SID and then put monster tracks in the
border. Look at the clever fabric on the back.

Thimbleberries
Christmas
June
belongs to the Thimbleberries group at a local quilt shop. They
work on a block a month. Then she appliquéd holly and stars and
may add more embellishments. The gold overall Stars and
Loops quilting pattern put stars in fun places and accented the stars
in the quilt.

Rag
Quilt
Alexandra
made this lovely target quilt that will only get better when it is
washed and dried. Her brother will love it! The masculine
feel of the quilt is unmistakable and the meandering will make the
frayed edges be the focus.

|
Stepping
Stones
Alexandra
made this batik beauty, as well. We used begonia thread and a
pattern called English Garden to enhance the bright feel of this
quilt.

|
Fall
Fantasy
Cara
made this interesting row quilt. She selected the Interlocking
Falling Leaves pattern to add the swirl of fall leaves. The
leaves look great on the plain backing fabric, too, making this a
reversible quilt for sure.

Charity
Quilts for TMC
Suddenly
we got busy with lots of charity quilts for the children at Tucson
Medical Center. Some were donated by our friend Georgia and
others were made by members. There are lots more to come in the
next few months.
There
are two more like #4. we were making a large quilt and decided
to make small ones for charity out of the panels.

Chantilly
Lace
Gayle
loves Chantilly Lace, so we used a large version on this lovely
flannel quilt. The Old Rose thread blended beautifully with the
back and the front of this snuggly quilt.

Sun
Bonnet Sue
Tessa
had Sun Bonnet Sue blocks that her husband's grandmother had made
years ago. Tessa set them into these three quilts as gifts to
family members. We did hearts and loops meandering and outlined
the Sues so they would be the center of attention. These quilts
will be wonderful reminders of the grandmother and her lovely legacy.

Wedding Quilt
Arlene
made this lovely quilt as a wedding quilt for her son and his new
bride. She designed the quilt on EQ5. She said she cut all
of the pieces by hand from a template . The quilting followed
the long strokes around and then filled in the negative areas.
Hidden in the quilting are the couple's names (Brad and Jenn)
and the date of their wedding. The back is very interesting with
the lavender thread showing.

Titanic
Ballroom Tile
Liz
took a Kaye England class when Kaye was here and had her sign the
quilt. Liz always does very precise piecing. She chose Wondrous
Waves insets and swirls around the border to add curves and motion to
this quilt. We made a special label for her quilt.

|
Yellow
Brick Road
Irma
had fun making this blue and yellow quilt. the Copenhagen Blue
thread stands out on the piecing and not the border just as we
planned. It looks great on the back, too. Windy Meandering
gives it great contours.

Batik
Beauty
Lynn
wanted a medium meander on this bright batik. We used thread
called "Brights" to accent the variety of
colors.
|
|
Flannel
Star
Mary
made this cuddly flannel quilt for her own bed. It features
flying geese, trees, and a star in the middle. She selected
Thinsulate batting for warmth and lightness. The quilting
repeats the geese and adds swirling leaves in variegated green thread.
