Christmas
in July
Carol
pieced this is a very short time to have it ready for Christmas in
July at a local quilt store. We used gold thread and Stars and
Loops to make it really feel like a holiday. they were selling
kits to make quilts just like this that were a real "buy."

Carpenter's
Star
Gayle
took a class at a local quilt store to do this quilt. I'd say
she was a star pupil! the pattern is Carpenter's Star but we
used Springtime Flower Meander to give it even more interest.

Sport
Quilt
Mary
Lou's other grandson got a very similar quilt this month. We
used the sports pantograph but in gold thread to emphasize the colors
on the front and to match the great basketball fabric on the back.

Alice
in VA
Alice's
daughter will love this quilt. We took lots of time deciding
what custom quilting it needed. The Quilted Quail and all of
Tucson debated about the purple binding. The custom roses and
leaves complemented the flowers in the fabric and finished off a
lovely project.

Twin
#1
Kris
made two twin quilts. They are twin sized, look alike, have
Yellow Brick Roads on the back and may be for twins. Double
everything. She did her usual beautiful job with piecing and
color selection.
|
|
Twin
#2
This
is the second "two -fer." You get two for the price of
one. Reversible quilts, and just like the one above. What
fun! This quilt is intended for a little girl.

Plain
and Simple
Mary's
quilting bee had a challenge to make a quilt that told about what they
read in a book titled "Plain and Simple." Mary
remembered the orderliness of canned vegetables lined on the shelves
in the basement and the spider webs and bugs that were always there.

For
Her Sister
Elaine
pieced this quilt for her sister. She pieces the quilt for her
sister and they swap that for something else. Chantilly Lace
insets make the on-point blocks complete. the backing fabric on
this quilt makes it very interesting on both sides.
|

|
Sister's
Roses
Donna is
the local sister who made a rose quilt. She got the kits
together for the 4 sisters and they made them together. This
quilt will be even prettier when it is washed and the flowers fluff
up.

|
Bonnie's
Blue
This
lovely quilt has beautiful colors and piecing, but the orange accent
stars are what make it so striking. The English garden
pantograph gives it character.

|
Donation
This
is another quilt Brooke pieced as a donation for the Quilt for a Cause
auction in Tucson in November. I have learned that she is
working every month with a group of piecers who are making quilts to
donate. We used her new favorite pantograph, Windy Meandering.
|
|
Donation
This
is Brooke's fourth quilt.
We used Rambler Rose in blue thread to emphasize the roses on this
fabric. She and several others work on quilts
all year to donate to Quilt for a Cause, an auction held at Tucson
Medical Center in November. Brooke is very generous!

|
For
Her Brother
Irma
made this snuggly flannel quilt for her brother. It shouts
"man's quilt" by the color combination and the
piecing. We used Celtic Scroll in the center to give it
definition.
|
|
Christmas
Judy
brought the book and the quilting directions for this quilt. She
especially liked the line branches in the background. Quilted
Quail had fun with all of the blocks making up the tree. What a
lovely wall hanging!
|
|
Patriotic
This flag quilt is
very patriotic and very log cabin. The navy thread kept the red
from being overpowering. The Windy Meandering gave some contours
while letting the flags speak for themselves. Obviously, the red
backing was perfect.

25th
Wedding Anniversary
Barbara worked many
long hours to get her 25 wedding rings pieced for the center of her
quilt. We included feathered hearts on the white fabric and
hearts inset into the rings. The pieced back is very exciting
but required a muslin liner to keep the color from showing through to
the top.

Pat's
Batik
This beautiful
batik lives in Virginia. Pat said she wanted something
"exotic" for her batiks, so Quilted Quail used Chrissy
because of the leaves and spider flowers. The chamois-colored
thread blended in beautifully.
