Tablecloth Quilt Connie
made this lovely quilt from vintage tablecloths. She cut them
all into squares and placed them randomly except for 5 large blocks
where she positioned them in a larger matching square. We used
Simply Clematis to give it a fresh look. She used an
existing quilt backing to continue the vintage look.

Wedding
Quilt
Elaine used a kit
for this quilt but modified the placement with the help of her
son. We used a medium Stars and Loops to capture the outer
space qualities. The dill thread looked great on both the back
and front.

Table Runner June
has this table runner ready just in time for Valentine's Day.
Besides outlining the elements, we used random hearts in the
background.

Mystery
Quilt
Brooke
made this mystery quilt with the gals at a local quilt shop, not
knowing what the quilt would look like when she started. She
says she would have used the fabrics in different positions to
emphasize the Jacob's Ladder. We quilted it with
feathers to emphasize the diamonds and rectangles.

Circles
for Jim
Brooke
pieced this for Jim who requested circles in the round portions of the
blocks. No two circles are the same circumference but they
give the round portions unity and movement. A 'comfortable
stipple' fills the background. The backing fabric is as 'calm'
as the front.

Vintage
Quilt
Elaine
brought this vintage quilt to have it stabilized to a muslin
backing. The original blocks are constructed on a fabric base,
some of which must be men's pajamas. The piecer used the sew and
flip method with varying widths of strips. The quilt is not
square and many of the blocks are not. One block has a totally
different center square. In keeping with the era as well as to
hold the quilt in place, we used a shell pattern to help
preserve the quilt.

Lauren's
Life
Lauren's
family, including grandmothers, an aunt, and father, made this quilt
for Lauren Elaine assembled the quilt and helped decide how it
should be quilted. Lauren is a very special girl and this quilt
tells the story of her life up to the beginning of college at the U of
A. We used white thread and saguaro cactus to quilt it so the
blocks at Lauren's request.

Beauty
Loretta
pieced this lovely flat and square quilt. She had been saving it
for the pantograph Chrissy and she was right! Front and back are
exceptional.

Old
Pueblo Quilters
Our
group of quilters has moved to become an auxiliary of Tucson Medical
Center with the same mission of creating quilts for the children in
the pediatrics wing. Our total for 2007 was 84, so the bar is
set even higher for 2008. These are the first ones. Connie
did these 4.

Dresden
Plate
Donna
saved retro fabric for over 10 years for this lovely scrappy Dresden
Plate quilt. It
is 108 X 108" and hand appliquéd with machine
construction. Pieces of the backing fabric are included in the
front. This very traditional quilt has special appliqué in the
border that creates a special motion of its own.

Raspberry
Swirl
That
sounds as delicious as it is pretty. June made this
Thimbleberries quilt as one of four that are a part of a larger one
(wait for a month or so to see it). It has such motion that the
custom quilting just fit into place.
