National
Dog Show
Connie
is taking these throw-sized quilts to a national dog show. This
batch branch out a bit from her previous doggie fabric. She
loves colors and says they are "wild" on purpose. We
used bright thread to continue that feeling.
Connie
is going to sell these quilts at a booth. Her company is called
"These Aren't Your Grandma's Quilts." And they
aren't! She likes lots of color and pattern and the paw prints
make them even more exciting.
Look
at these two cute pantographs made from drawings by Anne Bright.

Wall
Hanging
Connie
machine appliquéd this small wall hanging. It has a very
springy look with the stems and flowers popping out from the
background. Leaves surround the quilt in the border.

Charity
Connie
completed a group of charity quilts for the Justin Project at TMC.
They will be donated to the Children's Wing for a child who needs the
special comfort of a hand-made quilt.
The
first is a printed panel.
The
second is a clever linear design with sashing.
The
third is a sweet pattern from reproduction fabrics.
The
fourth is a soft, sweet flannel with a Disney print as backing.
The
fifth is a bright, bold geometric.

Lines
Mary
used bright fabric and simple piecing to create this striking
quilt. The Yale Blue thread carried the bright blue color
throughout the quilt.

Mother's
Quilt
JoAnne
pieced this quilt for her mother. They both live in
Virginia. We picked out the thread color and the quilting
pattern by looking at pictures and talking on the phone. Quilted
Quail quilted and bound the quilt so it was ready when they opened the
box.

Are
You Looking at Me?
Brooke
used Laurel Burch fabrics to make this bright quilt. In the
middle of each block is a creature looking right back at you! We
used a simple quilting pattern and bright Cherry Blossom thread to
make this ask the question, "Are You Looking at Me"?

Follow
the Lines
Libby
wanted this quilt to look just like the pattern in the book. It
was interesting to quilt so that the eye follows the lines, first the
dark making the square and then the lighter making the diamond.
Which do you see first?

Seeing
Stars
Brooke
pieced all of these stars with different bright fabrics. To help
make the similarities and differences show we used a very regular
pattern that repeats over the whole quilt, Baroque Hearts.

Chinese
Coins
Connie
used beautiful Asian fabrics for this Chinese Coins quilt. To
keep the Asian look, we used a Rainbow Fan pattern. She pieced
the back with stripes of the fabric from the front.

Baby
#2
Pat,
in VA, used the same pattern to make similar quilts (see earlier page)
for her two grandchildren. One mother is using the quilt and
this quilt goes on the wall.

Daughter's
Crayons
Peggy
made this quilt for her daughter. She had great fun collecting
the pairs of fabric for each Crayon. Then we did
"free spirit" all-over quilting with flowers, leaves, and
butterflies in a bright variegated thread.

|
Sunflowers
Pam
pieced this quilt just like the page of the calendar she looked at for
a month. The directions were at the end of the year. The
custom quilting makes the sunflowers pop and the green shapes have
extra interest with a sunflower in each one.
|
|
Thimbleberries
Sunrise
Pam
did a lovely job with this quilt. She belongs to the local
Thimbleberries group. They did a block each month and then
assembled their quilts.
|
|
Flowers
Rose
thinks she learned a lot with these seams that all meet in the middle
of the flowers. We did a simple stars and loops to bring out the
stars in the fabric.

Does your quilt
